Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei: 'We Swear to Avenge Your Pure Blood'

Supreme Leader of Iran Mojtaba Khamenei:

"We swear that we will avenge your pure blood and the blood of all the martyrs of these two wars against these criminals and dishonorable murderers."

Our people are the avengers of Hussein. This great nation has, for many years, offered its sons on the path of Hussein and in the struggle against the enemies of Hussein and his teachings. And today, it also avenges him and the Husseini figures of our time.

Now I address our martyr-leader: O innocent sufferer! O proud martyr! O righteous servant of Allah!

Now, as we bid farewell to your body with tearful eyes and broken hearts, we give you a vow: we will safeguard your school, firmly walk the straight path you showed us, and not fear difficulties on this path. We will rely on divine promises and glad tidings, as you did.

We swear to avenge your pure blood and the blood of all martyrs of these two wars, and to punish the criminal murderers. This vengeance is the desire of our people, and it will certainly come to pass. These criminals, whose list from first to last is known to us, will take with them to the grave the dream of a peaceful death in bed. They must know: this matter does not depend on my presence or that of other leaders. Whether we are here or not — it will surely happen. Soon, free people across the world, each in their place, will carry out this divine mission.

O martyr-father of the Ummah! May the cup of martyrdom, which you longed to drink your whole life, be sweet for you. May the garment of martyrdom, worn by the body bearing the signs of your mother Fatima az-Zahra and your grandfather Abu Abdullah al-Hussein, and your father al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them), be blessed for you.

And you, his innocent companions, who were suddenly attacked by the enemy and became martyrs — blessed are you! Now you are guests of that Master whose mercy and kindness you may have already felt more than once. That Master, who is the gate of Allah’s mercy for all, especially for the people of this land, now welcomes you, and His holy presence has become your home.

And you, O exalted master! O noble one! O merciful Imam! O Abu al-Hasan al-Rida al-Murtada, may the best blessings of Allah be upon you!

Now the wounded body of one of your servants and servants of his pure progeny, after many years of continuous effort, struggle, and jihad, together with the bodies of martyrs from his family — each reminiscent of a martyr of the plain of Karbala — is being committed to this pure soil. This will continue until the day when, by the will of Allah, the sun of the universe, our Master, al-Waliyy al-Asr (may Allah hasten his appearance), emerges from behind the clouds of concealment and pours forth the light of divine mercy upon the inhabitants of this earth.

On that day, which we hope will come very soon, stars among the righteous, martyrs, and the chosen will accompany him. We hope that our martyr-leader will be among them, once again displaying bright and pure scenes of struggle and loyalty to the covenant of the Ahl al-Bayt. Perhaps these companions of his will also be by his side on that day.

O merciful master! Our leader! We entrust to you and to your mercy and care all that he had, and his martyr-companions, so that they may continue, as in life, to benefit from your mercy — and now even more and higher than before.

In conclusion, I once again offer condolences to the masters — representatives of the Imam of the Time (may Allah hasten his appearance), and I ask this merciful master to direct his pure prayers toward our master, the martyr of Iran, and his martyr-companions, as well as all martyrs. I ask the Almighty for all martyrs an elevation in ranks, for their families — patience and reward, and for the oppressed people of Iran — swift and certain victory and assistance. In sha Allah.
