Yury Seliverstov appointed Belarus' ambassador to

President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on January 22 appointing Yuri Seliverstov as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation. According to the decree, he also becomes Belarus's Plenipotentiary Representative at the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States and special representative for integration cooperation within the Union State, the Eurasian Economic Union, the CIS, and the CSTO.

According to the decree, Seliverstov is granted the authority of a Deputy Prime Minister regarding Belarus's activities within the Union State and relations with Russia. He will represent Belarus in contacts with Russian and Union State officials and government bodies, make proposals on trade, economic, and investment cooperation, coordinate the activities of republican agencies and representatives in Union State bodies, and oversee the implementation of these activities.

At the same time, Seliverstov bears personal responsibility for advancing Belarus's national interests within the Union State and in relations with Russia.
