Yuri Seliverstov appointed ambassador to Russia
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree on January 22 appointing Yuri Seliverstov as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation. Concurrently, he will serve as Belarus's Plenipotentiary Representative at the CIS Economic Council, as well as special representative for integration cooperation within the Union State, the EAEU, CIS, and CSTO. Having registered as Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Belarus's activities within the Union State and relations with Russia, Seliverstov gains authority to represent the country in contacts with Russian and union bodies, participate in developing initiatives on trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and coordinate actions of republican agencies, defending Belarus's national interests within the Union State.
