Lukashenko at the Union State Council meeting
will discuss integration issues
On February 26, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko attended a meeting of the State Council of the Union State held in Moscow. The agenda included seven items devoted to current issues of bilateral integration cooperation.
Key issues included the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State for the period 2024–2026, as well as the development of a similar document for 2027–2029. Additionally, discussions covered the organization of cross-border suburban passenger transport, the establishment of a Committee on Standardization and Quality of the Union State, and mutual support in the field of international justice. The awarding of Union State prizes in literature and the arts for 2025–2026 is also planned.
Context
Earlier in 2022 and 2023, Lukashenko and his Russian partners had met to discuss joint initiatives of the Union State, demonstrating ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation.
