Lukashenko at Union State meeting
Discussion of Union State initiatives
On February 26, 2024, Belarusian President A. Lukashenko will take part in the Supreme State Council meeting of the Union State in Moscow. The agenda includes discussing the main directions for implementing the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State for the period 2024–2026 and developing a draft of a similar document for 2027–2029. Also on the agenda are organizing cross-border suburban passenger transport, establishing the Union State Committee on Standardization and Quality, mutual support in cooperation in the field of international justice, and awarding Union State prizes in literature and art for 2025–2026.
Context
The Union State is an integration union of Belarus and Russia, established in 1999.
Lukashenko will discuss the Union State's plans and new initiatives for the coming years.
