Lukashenko: Ukraine is a multi-faceted conflict
In a continuation of the interview conducted for the Newsmax TV channel, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko discussed the conflict in Ukraine, noting that the outcome of the war depends on a multilateral process and the positions of all conflicting parties.
"If it depended only on Trump, the war would have ended long ago. There are two conflicting sides — Russia and Ukraine — and we, Belarus, are also tied to the outcome. This is a multilateral process, and Trump alone cannot resolve the issue," said Lukashenko.
"If Trump were president, there would be no war. Most likely, yes. Trump in this situation would not have been destructive, but much now depends on him and on U.S. foreign policy. The main thing is that Trump does not back down," he added.
"I am confident that Putin wants peace. I won't list the reasons — they are internal and external, and the public understands them. The same applies to Zelenskyy, and I am especially confident of this now. But their visions of the war's end differ," noted the president.
"The most dangerous aspect of the conflict is its escalation. If the war continues, it could turn into a global conflict for Europe and the world. Therefore, it must be extinguished, and now, more than ever, there is an opportunity if the Americans seriously get involved," warned Lukashenko.
"Any war ends with peace. The sooner it happens, the fewer people will die. That's a classic conclusion," he concluded the interview.
