Belarus-Russia priorities
Key theses on the development of relations between Belarus and Russia were presented at the meeting of the Supreme State Council. The parties noted that the geopolitical situation requires joint readiness to respond to challenges, and practical implementation of the Treaty on Security Guarantees in the Union State has begun. Technological sovereignty and protection of the common market were named the main economic tasks. It was noted that over the past 30 years, trade turnover between the two countries has nearly increased eightfold—from $6.5 billion in 1996 to $54.7 billion in 2025, with more than 60% of investments coming from Russian investors. Plans for the next three years include strengthening technological sovereignty and achieving technical parity with other countries, as well as providing real support and protection for the interests of producers of joint products under the status of 'Union State Goods'. The regional cooperation format attracted interest from China and Iran during the discussion.
The Supreme State Council of Belarus and Russia confirmed priorities in geopolitics, technological sovereignty, and economic cooperation, noting increased trade turnover and attraction of Russian investments.
