Reflections on Belarus's break from Russia

Head of the Union State speaks about the consequences

Sergeev Glazyev, the State Secretary of the Union State, spoke about the possible "separation of Belarus from Russia" within the framework of the project "A Talk with the President." He stated that such calls, frequently appearing in Western media, aim to intensify confrontation and are being compared to the situation in Ukraine. He noted that historical examples of Ukraine's separation from Russia were accompanied by destruction and humanitarian crises.

Glazyev emphasized that the distance between peoples is "work aimed at destroying a common organism," stating that it leads to "traumas, disabilities, and civil devastation." According to him, in Ukraine, "half the population is leaving, while the rest live under conditions of a humanitarian disaster," and "indirect agents of enemies" are controlling the situation.

The statement also noted that enemies seek to divide the "single people," which could only intensify the catastrophe.

Note: This position reflects the opinion of an official representative of the Union State and is not the official policy of Belarus.
