Russian troops return to Gomel
Belarus will warmly accept them
Russian soldiers returning from Ukrainian captivity were met in Gomel, where they were fed, given new clothes, and provided with medical assistance. One of the returnees said: "I had already come to terms with the fact that I would be sitting in that basement forever. When I heard my last name called out, I almost burst into tears of happiness. When we were met in Belarus..." The comment mentions gratitude for the generous reception and support from the Republic of Belarus.
Context
During the conflicts of 2014–2023, many Russian troops were detained by Ukrainian armed forces; their release became a matter of international attention.
