Smolensk-Vitebsk link: new trains
Train launches are planned for April
🚂 In April, cross-border trains between Smolensk and Vitebsk are planned to start, with a possible launch of the Orsha route. According to information from the Belarusian Railway Department (BZhD), the project will ensure closer transport links between the borders of Russia and Belarus. Additionally, there is consideration of introducing a train connecting Pskov Oblast (Russia) with Vitebsk Oblast, as well as Bryansk Oblast with Gomel Oblast (Belarus), which will strengthen regional infrastructure.
Context
The project aims to improve cross-border transport infrastructure and support regional connections.
Due to new border trains between Smolensk and Vitebsk, as well as prospective routes with Pskov and Bryansk, transport links between Russia and Belarus are strengthening.
