Belarus seizes 1.3 tons of drugs
A truck with Polish plates concealed 915 kg of hashish and 367 kg of mephedrone
Belarusian customs officers reported that a large consignment of psychotropic drugs was being transported in a truck marked as a parked vehicle with a Polish license plate and sign. Under the guise of mineral water, 915 kg of hashish, consisting of 8,000 compressed bricks, and 367 kg of mephedrone in 50 boxes were being transported. Only several dozen genuine water bottles were used for concealment. Authorities called this operation the largest attempted psychotropic drug smuggling in the history of Belarus and the Eurasian Economic Union.
Such an operation highlights the increasing efforts being made to combat international drug trafficking. The Interior Minister noted that in the coming weeks, enhanced control at border crossings with neighboring countries and expanded cooperation with foreign law enforcement agencies are planned.
Official data indicate that such incidents continue to have a significant impact on the region, including on the security of continental border crossings.
