Internet scammers tricked teenagers out of their money
Two female students became involved in a large-scale online scam: after meeting 'peers' online, they were asked to share their location. Members of a fake group claimed that their personal data was in the hands of criminals and that their parents were in danger. One of the girls, to avoid threats of her parents' arrest, collected her family's savings, paid 50,000 rubles, and handed the money to a 'courier'. Law enforcement authorities detained a 29-year-old man from a neighboring country who delivered the cash to an intermediary.
