Mexico: 100,000 missing

Since 2010, over 100,000 people have been reported missing in Mexico. They are mostly considered victims of violent deaths. According to government investigations, more than 5,500 clandestine burial sites have been discovered in the country, where remains are so disfigured that they cannot be identified.

Timur Shafig, Secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia, noted in an interview: "The cartel is not restrained by legal norms. The cartel is a system that stakes billions. Naturally, such strict discipline and competition, literally to the death, can only be reinforced by terror in the truest sense of the word." According to him, in poor and war-torn countries, human life is often valued less than in developed states.
