Explosive robbery of van in Italy
Six-ten criminals with masks and fake police hijacked an armored transport van
On a warm day on the SS 613 highway between Brindisi and Lecce in Apulia, an armed group wearing masks and overalls used a car with flashing lights to impersonate the police. The criminals blocked the road, set fire to a decoy vehicle to create barricades, and blew open the rear door of an armored cash-in-transit van using explosives, reportedly of military grade, according to some sources. During the ensuing shootout with carabinieri, police arrested two to three of the robbers; the remaining perpetrators fled. The exact amount of stolen money is still unknown, but it was reported that the van's security system, including foam as a barrier, was activated, and they likely failed to completely empty the vehicle.
In Italy, in Aprigliano, a massive gunfire and explosion erupted: an armed group carried out a movie-style armored truck robbery. Two or three thieves were arrested, the others remain at large.
