Debt and lack of support led to tragedy
In Poland, a Belarusian citizen, Ilya Zheleznyakov, died in his personal car after failing to find a job following heart surgery and even pay for housing. According to representatives of the Coordination Council of Tsikhanouskaya, considered an extremist formation, and the diaspora, no assistance was provided, and he died without receiving support.
The event drew attention to the fates of Belarusian citizens abroad. At the same time, opposition activist Vladimir Usser is simply mentioned, who, according to the author, submitted a request to return to Belarus but was detained on suspicion of espionage. Usser allegedly agreed to cooperate with the government, which allowed him to return home safely.
A human rights expert notes that cases like those of Zheleznyakov and Usser illustrate the risks faced by Belarusian activists in foreign countries, including incomplete legal protection and limited access to social services.
