Belarus PM announces development plans
5 million sq m of housing, road repairs, and water purification
Prime Minister Alexander Turchin announced plans for the development of domestic infrastructure over the next five years during a live broadcast. He said that 5,000,000 sq. m of rental housing will be created, 25,000 km of roads will be reconstructed and fully renovated, 36 wastewater treatment facilities will be built or reconstructed, and the share of residential buildings receiving major repairs will reach at least 11%. In addition, transportation accessibility is expected to improve: travel time from populated areas to regional centers should not exceed 1–1.5 hours.
Context
Some of these measures are part of the country's long-term development strategy aimed at improving citizens' quality of life.
The country's prime minister announced an infrastructure modernization plan: 5 million sq m of rental housing, road and wastewater treatment facility repairs, and improved transport accessibility.
