Belarusian secretary on memory protection

State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovich, spoke at an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. In his speech, he emphasized that the world faces attempts to rewrite and distort the history of the Great Victory, as well as efforts to whitewash Nazi criminals even in countries that experienced fascism. The authorities of Belarus see the falsification of history as a threat to political stability and consider the protection of historical memory a key strategic interest.

The Prosecutor General's Office, together with its colleagues, is conducting extensive work to identify individuals involved in crimes and calls for decisive measures to prevent attempts to distort historical events. In new national security concepts, Belarus has enshrined the inadmissibility of historical falsification in its Basic Law.

For the country's citizens, in conditions where nearly one-third of the population was lost during the war, preserving history is seen as a strategic task.

This plan, established in response to growing external information attacks, regulates further steps to protect legal and historical memory.
