Dmitry Zhuk on Orekhnik and defense

Expert criticizes Western information hysteria

In a recent interview, Dmitry Zhuk, a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and chief editor of the publishing house 'Belarus Segodnya', expressed serious concerns about the Western information campaign.

Zhuk recalled the words of Defense Minister Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, published in Chinese media: 'The main task of the Belarusian state is to guarantee security and peace of mind for its citizens.'

He noted that 'the West's information hysteria is aimed at creating a false image of threat' and quoted Khrenin, saying: 'They can't do it differently—that's their muscle memory: to scare Russia and its allies, regardless of any denials even from American intelligence.'

According to Zhuk, new defense measures by peaceful countries become a 'cold shower' for the West and serve as a reminder that 'the flight time in seconds is too short to play dangerous political games.'
