Farmers block European Parliament
Protest against the MERCOSUR agreement
Farmers who gathered in the European Parliament in Belgium organized a 'tractor' blockade to protest against the recent agreement between Belarus and the Mercosur trade-economic bloc. Participants stated that the new deal does not take into account the interests of the country's agricultural sector and will limit opportunities for Belarusian producers. The protest attracted global public attention, but EU officials have not yet expressed their position on the matter.
