KGB chief warns of military efforts

Ivan Tertel, head of the Belarusian KGB, said in an interview, "We never forget what tasks you are solving, what you are doing for the Motherland." He stated that currently "significant tasks are associated with the concentration of military efforts in neighboring countries." Tertel noted that "many countries are increasing defense budgets and improving infrastructure of potential theaters of military operations." He emphasized that "there are absolutely no grounds for such measures" and that this "alarms us." As an additional task for foreign intelligence, he pointed out the importance of uncovering "the real plans regarding our country and what may affect it."
The KGB of Belarus reported increasing military efforts by neighboring countries and the need to uncover plans that could affect Belarus.
