Red danger level in Belarus
Launch of "Weather" plans and snow removal operations
By January 9, a red danger level has been declared in Belarus due to severe weather. According to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the 'Weather' plan has been introduced in the Brest region and the Mogilev region due to intense snowfalls. Trade unions in the Gomel region announced an active campaign 'Let's Clear the Snowdrifts Together!'; the Gomel regional executive committee noted that during heavy precipitation, road clearing should be carried out every one and a half hours. Brestenergo is forming additional teams for possible emergency situations—more than six and a half thousand housing and communal services workers have already gone out to clear snow in various regions. Communal services in each region are carrying out round-the-clock monitoring of streets and courtyards. All regions of Belarus are preparing for possible worsening weather due to cyclone 'Francis-Ulli'.
