Lukashenko signs decree on medicines
On December 17, the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed a decree approving as a basis for negotiations two draft protocols amending the Agreement on Common Principles and Rules for the Circulation of Medical Devices within the Eurasian Economic Union dated December 23, 2014. The Union establishes common standards for registration, labeling, and proper use of medical devices for member countries. According to the new documents, the list of devices exempt from mandatory registration in the EAEU will change. Additionally, the transitional period has been extended until December 31, 2027, during which devices can be registered according to national legislation or Union law. This measure is intended to ensure stability in the circulation of devices and reduce the risk of shortages.
Context
The Agreement on Common Principles and Rules for the Circulation of Medical Devices was adopted in December 2014 and provides common rules for all EAEU countries.
The president signed a decree changing pharmaceutical regulators in the EAEU and extending the transition period until 2027.
