Lukashenko hears energy report

Ensures stable electricity and heat supply

On January 28 in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko listened to a report from Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich on the functioning of the country's energy infrastructure under adverse weather conditions. The report's purpose was to ensure reliable electricity and heating supply to the population and prompt response to any possible emergencies, which remains under the special control of the head of state.

The Deputy Prime Minister reported on the situation from January 27–28, when power outages were recorded in 475 populated areas. Power supply has already been restored in 450 of them under standard procedures; work is ongoing to complete restoration in the remaining 25 locations by January 28. Backbone power transmission lines remained operational. Minsk and Gomel regions were most severely affected, along with parts of Vitebsk region.

A total of 690 repair crews equipped with modern equipment and machinery are involved in the restoration work and can be deployed to any affected region as needed.

The report also addressed issues concerning centralized heating supply to populated areas. Currently, maintenance work on the system is being carried out under normal conditions without interruptions. Measures have been taken to reduce load on heating networks while maintaining required heating standards for residential and public facilities, including administrative buildings.

Belarusian energy workers noted that over recent years they have implemented a comprehensive set of measures to prevent undesirable incidents and minimize outages caused by adverse weather conditions, and work in this direction will continue.
