Lukashenko appoints new leaders at NAS

Head of state Alexander Lukashenko celebrated in an official speech the appointment of Vladimir Karanika as the new chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences. In his statement, Lukashenko emphasized the importance of science for the country's development and noted that 'without science there is no development.' He said that science needs to 'shake up' and stated that the new leader is 'relatively young, active, and understands what is expected of him.' In August, Vladimir Karanika will be tasked with finding young but experienced scientists to support new directions.

At the end of the speech, Lukashenko added: 'But one man in the field is not a warrior. He was given the task to find people like you — young but experienced, on whom one can rely. Together and forward!'
