Lukashenko appointed judges after CNS
Judicial system faculty and personnel renewal
On Monday, December 20, 2023, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree "On the Appointment and Release of Judges" following the decision of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly (ABPA). The decree formalizes appointments and redistribution of judicial positions.
Yury Kobets, previously deputy chairman of the Supreme Court, has been appointed chairman of the Appellate Economic Court. Additionally, leadership positions of economic courts in the Gomel and Grodno regions have been confirmed with Alexander Lisovsky and Eduard Korol appointed as chairmen, respectively.
The decree provides for the release of several judges from their positions due to their election as judges of the Supreme Court. This is part of a broader personnel renewal within the country's judicial system.
The preamble of the decree states that the appointments were made within the framework of the judiciary reform completed at the previous ABPA. The decree indicates that the appointments and dismissals are intended to strengthen the efficiency of judicial administration.
According to sources, the transitions in judicial positions comply with legislative requirements and internal regulations of the judicial system.
"Crime and security: it is important that courts operate without delays," noted the official press center.
