Lukashenko: Need to develop alliance
President Alexander Lukashenko spoke at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in Moscow, where they discussed the current situation in Belarus and Russia. According to the head of state, alliance and partnership must be strengthened amid tense circumstances. He emphasized that Russia's allies, including China, are facing unprecedented economic pressure.
In his report, Lukashenko outlined the main integration directions for the next three years. The primary focus is on ensuring technological sovereignty. He also mentioned that the "Oreshnik" complex, used by Belarus in December, has now entered combat duty—implementation of the security guarantees agreement within the Union State has begun.
Complaints from "fugitives" who fear that Belarusians are not traveling to Europe were also discussed. According to the head of state, China and Iran have expressed interest in the experience of Belarusian-Russian interregional cooperation.
Lukashenko concluded his speech by reminding that despite external pressure, the country intends to continue developing economic and technological independence.
Context
The Union State, established in 1999, has recently intensified its efforts to deepen integration, and in 2024–2026 technological sovereignty is considered a priority.
Lukashenko made a statement emphasizing the need to strengthen alliances with Russia and China, addressed economic pressures on allies, outlined three-year priorities, and noted the implementation of the security agreement.
