Lukashenko signed 2026 budget

The budget increases revenues and expenditures, deficit of 4.3 billion Belarusian rubles.

President Alexander Lukashenko signed the law "On the Republican Budget for 2026," adopted by the Chasovoye assembly of the government body. The new budget projects revenues of 54.4 billion Belarusian rubles and expenditures of 58.7 billion, ensuring revenue growth of 12.4% and expenditure growth of 10.4% compared to the current year. The main revenue sources are VAT, income tax, profit tax, and revenues from foreign economic activities, while the tax burden for most taxpayers remains unchanged.

The budget maintains social priorities: healthcare, education, social support, culture, and sports continue to receive significant funding. Additional funds are allocated for the development of science, the agro-industrial complex, and export support.

The state will operate with a deficit of 4.3 billion Belarusian rubles, amounting to less than 1.5% of GDP.

Context

Earlier in 2025, the budget was approved with similar priorities aimed at strengthening social programs and supporting the export-oriented sector.
