Lukashenko clarified payment mechanism for science
If it's about money, the result is we pay
At a meeting on the draft decree on improving scientific activities, President Alexander Lukashenko explained that payments would not be made without results. He said: 'If there is a result – we pay. If there is no result – there will be no money. No matter how our undoubtedly intelligent scientists may present this issue.' A member of parliament discussed the championship and issues related to achieving project goals with several high-ranking officials, including the chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Karanik, Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Krutoy, Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov, Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, Minister of Education Andrey Ivantsov, and Minister of Finance Vladislav Tatarinovich.
Context
The draft decree on improving scientific activities has been previously discussed as a way to increase the efficiency of scientific work in Belarus.
Lukashenko emphasized at the meeting that payments for scientific projects would be made only upon delivery of results and noted the need to account for achievements in the draft decree project.
