Lukashenko suddenly led the unit
As part of a large-scale combat readiness inspection of the Armed Forces of Belarus, at the order of the Supreme Commander, one of the mechanized units of the North-West Operational Command was suddenly brought to combat readiness. According to Alexander Volfovich, political advisor to the head of state, 'in accordance with the inspection plan, he suddenly brought one of the mechanized units to combat readiness in peacetime staffing.'
A group of State Secretariat employees arrived at the command post and delivered an order signed personally by the President. A key feature of the inspection is that the president directly brings military units to combat readiness, bypassing the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. The purpose of the event is to obtain an objective picture and assess the actual condition of the troops.
