Education priorities and higher education modernization
Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Ivanets noted in an interview that education issues remain a state priority. He emphasized that the socio-economic development program of Russia includes specific steps to develop vocational and technical education and to modernize all colleges in the country. The minister stated that all colleges should become centers for higher-level training of mid-level specialists and skilled workers. An important part of the plan is the creation of new experimental educational programs in higher education institutions closely linked to the scientific sphere, so that Belarus meets the changes in economy, science, and technology. According to him, these programs will be implemented within the education system and taken into account in socio-economic development.
Context
Over the past few years, Belarus has been implementing several reforms of the education system aimed at improving the quality and competitiveness of graduates.
The Ministry of Education announced plans to modernize colleges and create experimental programs at universities as part of a five-year education development strategy.
