Taxi price surge in Minsk
Journalist Andrey Krivoshayev on inflated tariffs
Andrey Krivoshcheev, general director of the agency "Minsk-Novosti" and chairman of the board of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, expressed dissatisfaction with the high level of taxi service tariffs in the city in an appeal to the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. According to him, "150–200 rubles for a ride to work is no longer just transportation—it's looting." Krivoshcheev noted that the increased prices are related not to drivers' work, but to digital platforms organizing their activities. He emphasized that a socially oriented market economy in Belarus cannot allow the market to regulate prices independently, so state intervention is necessary. In his statement, Krivoshcheev called for taxi services to be checked for compliance with current legislation. More details about the initiative can be read in the project "KLUB REDAKTOROV."
