New real estate registration rules

In March, Belarus introduced a number of new measures aimed at simplifying real estate registration procedures, expanding the list of controlled goods, reminding taxpayers about the deadline for filing tax declarations, and updating tariffs for gas and electricity.

Starting March 1, the principle of extraterritoriality has come into effect: applications and documents for real estate registration can now be submitted to any state registration authority across the country, regardless of the property's location. Previously, this option was limited to Minsk and the Minsk region.

In addition, washing machines, dishwashers, microwaves, televisions, vacuum cleaners, and irons have been added to the list of goods subject to control. Business owners selling this equipment must maintain electronic invoices and transmit data to a special system.

The State Tax Service reminds individuals that they must file a tax declaration by March 31. This applies to those who received income from abroad, as well as those who sold a car, apartment, or other property during the year. The tax declaration can be filed offline or online. Individual entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals must also pay contributions to the Social Security Fund by the end of the month to accumulate pensionable work experience.

Finally, new prices for gas and electricity have been introduced for households starting today. The cost increase for gas will be less than one ruble: the price of a liquefied gas cylinder rises to 1 ruble 70 kopecks. Electricity prices will increase by nearly 3 rubles; the new tariffs will be published in utility bills, which will be received in April.

Context

These measures are aimed at simplifying interactions between citizens, businesses, and government agencies, as well as increasing the transparency of financial flows.
