The best of 2,700 applications selected by the National Bank
The National Bank of Belarus announced the winner of a new official graphic sign for the Belarusian ruble from 2700 entries in a competition. According to Svetlana Lukyanuk, leading economic news presenter, the sign combines elements of currency symbols from other countries while simultaneously emphasizing the uniqueness of the Belarusian currency. It will be used wherever monetary amounts need to be indicated: on price tags, in financial reports, official documents, informational materials, and media. The prize was awarded to the author of the winning design.
Context
The appearance of a new currency symbol is part of the National Bank's efforts to increase the transparency and recognizability of the Belarusian ruble.
BNB announced winning the competition to create a new Belarusian ruble sign, selected from 2,700 applications. The sign will be used in all areas where amounts are indicated.
