Yesterday, by decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Colonel Alexander Ilyukevich announced the name of the new commander of the Special Operations Forces (SOF). Previously, this position was held by Major General Vadim Denisienko, who has been retired due to age as of the 15th week of the month, with the right to wear military uniform and insignia. According to the Ministry of Defense, the appointment reflects a strategic shift in the coordination and training of the Armed Forces of Belarus.

Context

The regulations concerning SOF commanders are established by the Presidential Decree and apply to all units subordinate to the central commands.
