Scholarships for young scientists
On December 17, 2023, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed an order appointing scholarships for 2026 to 56 young scientists. Among the recipients are 9 doctors of science under 45 years old, 27 candidates of science under 35 years old, and 20 young scientists without academic degrees under 30 years old, representing various scientific fields: physical and mathematical, technical, chemical, military (26), social and humanitarian (18), biological, medical, pharmaceutical, and earth sciences (15). The research of these scientists is supported in line with priority areas of scientific activity and demonstrates practical effectiveness for the economy and societal development. Their results are applied in universities, enterprises, healthcare, and research organizations; many publications have been released in leading national and international journals, and some developments are protected by patents. Starting in 2026, the scholarship amount will be increased to 600 Belarusian rubles per month. Presidential scholarships for young scientists in Belarus have been awarded since 2005 based on open republican competitions aimed at encouraging creative initiative and strengthening the personnel potential of research organizations.
