President discussed Belarus' armed forces
Key ministers and heads of state agencies attended the meeting
The meeting held with the President focused on issues of equipping the Armed Forces and developing the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus. Among the participants were Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich, Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Krutoy, Chairman of the KGB Vasily Gerasimov, Vice-Premiers Viktor Karankевич and Anatoly Sivak, Finance Minister Vladislav Tatarinovich, and Chairman of the State Committee for Military Industry Dmitry Pantsus.
The chairman said: "Next year, even by the end of this year, we must have our own ammunition. Standard-issue ammunition."
According to the Defense Minister: "In modern conditions, only a state that is first and foremost capable of ensuring its security in the military sphere can be considered self-sufficient."
It was also noted that "the buildup of military activity near our borders, especially from Poland, does not simply alarm us. We understand that such actions are not taken lightly."
The minister criticized the lack of investment in military technology: "People don't just spend money on tanks and ammunition without reason. That's why, considering the special military operation of the Russian Federation, I made the decision to strengthen our defense capabilities on an even larger scale."
