The President of the Republic of Belarus signed the law "On the Ratification of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Mediation Organization". This treaty defines the organization's goals, objectives, categories of disputes subject to consideration, and also regulates procedural issues of conducting mediation.

In addition, the head of state approved the law ratifying the protocols on amendments to the conventions on legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family, and criminal matters of January 22, 1993, and October 7, 2002. These conventions contain provisions ensuring the enforcement of court orders for child support payments for minor children in CIS countries.

Context

The Convention on the Establishment of the International Mediation Organization, adopted in 2004, created a common legal framework for international mediation practices.
