President proposed amendment on payments

A draft decree on ensuring payment of remuneration for work performed was submitted for the head of state's consideration. The President noted that there is a "clear system in the country whereby everyone receives payment for their labor." He emphasized that if promises are not fulfilled, a person is forced to go to court, seeking compensation, taking time away from family and spending nerves and time. Lukashenko asked how this draft relates to legislative initiatives providing for stricter liability for non-payment of wages, which have already been submitted to parliament.

In 2023–2024, Belarus strengthened legislative measures to protect workers' rights and increase employers' liability for wage arrears.
