Kobrin ROVD reported launching an investigation after a report of an attempted abduction of a 6-year-old child
On February 16 at around 08:30, the duty service of the Kobrin District Department of Internal Affairs received a phone call reporting an attempted child abduction. Officers were informed that two men—one of them a foreign national—were trying to leave with a seven-year-old child in a private vehicle. According to a resident of Kobrin, the 20-year-old father of the boy, her former cohabiting partner, had come to the healthcare facility where she had left the child and wanted to take his son away. In previous appeals to the Kobrin District Department of Internal Affairs, the man had expressed disagreements with his partner regarding the child's place of residence. Police officers explained to the foreign national the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus and clarified that such disputes are resolved in court, taking into account the child's best interests.
Kobrin ROVD conducted an investigation following a report of an attempted child abduction and explained to citizens the procedure for resolving family disputes in court.
