According to the decree of the President of Belarus dated February 5, 2024, Colonel Vladimir Safonov has been appointed as Chief of Staff—First Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus. According to the official press service, his appointment confirms the leadership's intention to enhance the effectiveness of special operations and improve the training level of personnel. The official document was signed by President Alexander Lukashenko in the presence of representatives of senior military commanders.
