Turchin on developing strong regions
The plan focuses on agriculture, ecology, and infrastructure
Alexander Turchin announced priority No. 5 "Strong Regions", emphasizing the need to develop each region of Belarus as a single socio-economic complex. The goal is to make regions attractive for living by providing accessible jobs, high-quality infrastructure, and equal opportunities.
Key growth areas:
- Brest and Gomel regions – Pripyat Polesie;
- Vitebsk region – Polessye;
- Mogilev region – southeastern regions;
- Grodno region – Neman River area;
- Minsk region – Minsk industrial belt.
Development assessment is based on three indicators: growth of real wages, investments, and reduction of budget debt burden.
Special emphasis is placed on the agro-industrial complex (AIC): construction of 200 dairy farms, five large pig farms, greenhouses, and fruit storage facilities is planned. The food export target is $10–12 billion by the end of the five-year period.
Environmental measures include processing up to 70% of non-sorted waste and up to 90% of industrial waste, as well as commissioning seven new waste management facilities by 2030.
Program implementation is carried out through state programs "AIC of the Future", "Ecology", and "Subsoil".
