75% of 11-year-old girls vaccinated in Belarus
In Belarus, more than 75% of 11-year-old girls have received the first dose of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. The Chinese vaccine "Cecolin", prequalified by the World Health Organization, protects against the two most dangerous high-risk types of HPV. The vaccination program is considered one of the key measures for preventing cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.
Context
HPV is a virus that causes infections which can lead to cancer. The World Health Organization recommends vaccinating children and adolescents to reduce the risk of developing cancerous diseases.
