Belarus discusses creating "special forces"
Ministry of Education proposed new educational centers for key industries
The idea of creating an intellectual 'special forces' – specialized centers for training personnel in key industries – is being discussed in Belarusian state agencies.
Head of state Alexander Lukashenko noted the need to identify promising areas that, in his words, 'no country can do without'.
Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets reported that one of the proposals is to establish departments and programs in aircraft engineering, digital technologies, and biotechnology. Two universities – BSU, BNTU, BSUIR, and BSTU – have suspended operations at engineering training facilities.
Currently, experimental programs are already being implemented within several universities, but as Ivanets emphasized, 'not all students will be able to master them'. He confirmed that the new initiative – the 'special forces' – will continue the trajectory of the National Children's Technopark, where concentrating talented young specialists proved justified.
The Belarusian initiative aims to train personnel 'for all sectors of the economy' and strengthen the educational base in strategically important areas.
Context
The plan follows the already operating Children's Technopark, where young specialists have been successfully concentrated.
The Belarusian Ministry of Education proposed establishing specialized training centers for aviation, digital technologies, and biotechnology, viewing them as "special forces" for the country's key industries.
