In Belarus: snow problems and service assessment
Survey of residents on the work of city services
Journalists from "Economic Environment" walked through the city streets to find out what winter problems Belarusians are facing and how satisfied they are with the work of utility services.
"The snow buried my car, but otherwise there were no problems. Snow removal was an issue because the utility workers couldn't cope, so we ended up cleaning our courtyards ourselves," shared one passerby.
"I bought myself Nordic walking poles. Show them to everyone, let everybody buy them. The only thing is, taxis were clearly more expensive than usual, but otherwise nothing serious," noted another.
"In the city center it's fine. But on the outskirts, it could be better, because sometimes it was hard to walk on the ice," complained a third passerby.
"The services coped as best they could, all bus stops were cleared, courtyards too as much as possible. We helped out there as well, but overall it was fine," said another survey participant.
Context
The survey was conducted as part of a topic on customs and population movement under harsh winter conditions.
Journalists from "Economic Environment" asked city residents about problems with snow and ice removal and assessed the work of utility services. Opinions were divided: some are satisfied, others see a need for improvements.
