Question: Belarusian mobile competition
In Belarus, the question arose as to when a domestic mobile phone will become competitive in the market. In response to this question, the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Supervisory Council (SSC) stated that it would take 25 years. According to the official, only in fifty years will local devices achieve demand. President Alexander Lukashenko, upon hearing this, replied: "How many years? We won't even be around by then." The remarks reflect optimism about the future and at the same time criticism of the current economic situation.
