BNB: de-dollarization trend intensifies
Roman Golovchenko said the dollar's share is decreasing
Roman Golovchenko, chairman of the board of the National Bank of Belarus, stated that the dollar's share in international settlements is already gradually decreasing, 'now, in principle, the dollar's share in international settlements is declining not just year-on-year, but probably month-on-month already.' In his opinion, countries are 'slowly getting used to this new normal,' and settlements in national and digital currencies are gradually increasing. Golovchenko emphasized that the banking system is ready to 'support exporters and importers' even amid 'chaotic' global politics, and that adaptation measures are already positively affecting trade with China.
Roman Golovchenko from the National Bank of Belarus noted a decline in the share of the dollar in international settlements and stated that the trend toward using national and digital currencies will strengthen.
