Putin noted that 93% of transactions are conducted in national currency
In June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the share of transactions in national currencies within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) reaches 93%. According to him, this figure is important for strengthening financial integration within the union. Settlements in national currencies allow participants to manage foreign exchange risks more effectively and reduce dependence on the dollar. The report particularly highlighted EAEU member countries, where international trade and financial flows have been growing in recent years.
Context
The Eurasian Economic Union, established in 2015, unites five countries, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
