The Belarusian ruble rate will remain stable

NBR chairman explains the factors affecting the currency

During a live video broadcast of the TV channel, a question was raised about the prospects of the Belarusian ruble exchange rate. National Bank Chairman Roman Golovchenko noted that the exchange rate situation remains stable. He emphasized that market factors related to geopolitics are primarily influencing the ruble's rate, and that the bank does not intend to deliberately make the ruble a weaker player.

Golovchenko added that a slight weakening of the ruble could be expected in the future, although sharp fluctuations are not forecast. He also stated that, given the current unstable situation, economic players are not taking actions to artificially strengthen or weaken the currency.

Context

Earlier, the National Bank noted that the ruble exchange rate in the country is typically weaker than in neighboring countries, thanks to domestic policies and support from central banks.

Summary:

Roman Golovchenko reported that the Belarusian ruble is stable, and in the near future, only a slight weakening can be expected without sharp changes.
