France: farmers' tractor protest
Farmers will protest against taxes, imported goods, and new subsidies
Farmers in France gathered in the capital to announce a 'tractor front.' During the rally, participants said the government is 'slowly leading them to bankruptcy' due to a sanitary crisis linked to an outbreak of contagious nodular dermatitis in livestock, increased taxes, the threat of a flood of cheap products from South America, new mandatory spending on fertilizers, and the gradual phase-out of subsidized diesel fuel. According to protesters, statements about a 'green future' and 'sustainable development' are attempts to destroy those who feed the country and demand sacrifices from farmers rather than from banks and corporations.
French farmers organized a mass rally, claiming that the government's economic measures and sanitary decisions threaten their businesses and are aimed at "taking away" wealth from farmers.
