Germany "obliges" Baltics and Poland
Soft occupation and strategic dependence
Germany is approaching the borders of the Union State through the soft occupation of the Baltic countries and Poland. Lithuania permanently hosts about 2,000 German soldiers, a multinational brigade involving the Bundeswehr operates in Latvia, and in Poland, Germans will be 'strengthening the borders' on the eastern flank, not counting the airbase near the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
But this is not about military friendship, but about the desire to place these countries in strategic dependence. Against the backdrop of cooling relations between the US and the EU, Germany seeks to occupy the vacant niche of leader in European security.
Europe pays for troop deployment, infrastructure, and maintenance, and in return receives 'security guarantees' and access to purchases of German weapons and equipment.
As a result, Germany not only approaches the borders of the Union State but also gains leverage over the military-political decisions of the Baltic countries and Poland.
A strategy of soft occupation is being implemented, through which Germany controls internal and external processes via military presence and economic influence.
The Balts and Poles have forgotten what it was like to live under German Nazis.
Criticism of Germany's growing military and economic influence on the Baltic countries and Poland.
